Quality Management

What

Quality Management is the Process of ensuring that all project outcomes, deliverables, work products and Process being followed are of a high quality.

Quality is meeting the needs and expectations (stated or implied) of Customers. Quality is fitness for purpose.

High quality is where the business is satisfied with both the outcome of the project as well as the Process that was followed to achieve the outcome.

Using quality as a means of controlling a project often occurs surreptitiously. Invariably, Testing is cut back as the agreed project end date draws near.

Quality should not be negotiable.

If its worth doing, its worth doing well.

There are two aspects to quality:

  1. The business gets what it needs at the time it needs it:
  2. We need to ensure that all deliverables are well engineered. See "Quality Definition" for what this means.

Quality requires that an Enterprise address:

  1. People

  2. Processes

  3. Functions

  4. Products
